Review - Elvis and Anabelle
Slow-moving, strange and often sad, but Blake Lively is amazing as Anabelle.

Description: | Elvis (Max Minghella) is a young mortician who runs the family business and takes care of his invalid father. Anabelle (Blake Lively) is a beauty queen who is constantly pushed to succeed by her mother (Mary Steenburgen). Anabelle wins a pageant and, while still on the stage, falls dead of a heart attack stemming from an eating disorder. Elvis begins preparing her body for burial and, on a whim, plants a kiss on her lips. Anabelle comes back to life. She's the focus of a huge media blitz, but she's not interested. She goes out to Max's old home and hides out. When the police come looking for her, she and Max take off on a road trip. They fall in love, but are caught. Max is arrested. When he is released, he goes home to find his father dead. He decides to commit suicide, but at the last moment, he catches a glimpse of a sunflower field Anabelle planted while she was there. He paints her name in large letters on his house and it shows up on the news. Anabelle sees it and returns to him. |
