Reviews for The Prince and the Showgirl
Review - Prince and the Showgirl, The
Slow moving and dreary. Marilyn was OK, but not great. Olivier was just dull.

Description: | The Regent of Carpathia (Laurence Olivier) travels to London with the young king to attend a coronation. On the night before, he attends a theater and spots and American actress, Elsie (Marilyn Monroe). He invites her to the embassy for a night's fling, but she isn't what he expected. First, she refuses his advances and then she falls asleep from too much vodka. When she's still around in the morning, the Regent finds himself falling for her. By the end of his visit, she's shown him the way to avoid a revolution in his country and he's very much in love, as is she, and they plan on getting together in 18 months when the young king takes control. |
