Description:John Gilbert is Bardelys, lady's man and courtier. He's challenged by his rival to win the hand of Roxalanne de Lavedan (Eleanor Boardman) in marriage. The king forbids him to leave town, but Barelys sneaks off. Wounded by the king's soldiers, Bardleys takes refuge with Roxalanne. Her father thinks he's a fellow-rebel against the king. Roxalanne and Bardelys fall in love, but she doesn't know who he is. Bardelys is arrested and sentenced to death as the man he is impersonating. The king arrives just in time to recognize and save him. He and Roxalanne marry with the king's blessing.

A silent film long thought lost. One reel is missing. That part of the story is told with stills and text. A bit dull, but with good characters and some humor.
