| Description: | When lawyer Charles (Jeff Daniels) is too sick to appear in court, his friend Richard (Michael Richards) pretends to be him. He thinks he only needs to ask for a continuance, but the judge insists on going to trial. The two friends contrive to make things work, and the trial soon becomes a comedy of chaos. Then Richard realizes his client is guilty and pretty much admits this to the jury. It doesn't thrill the client, but it impresses Elizabeth, the prosecutor. Meanwhile Charles hits it off with a Billie a waitress (Charlize Theron) and realizes his big city law firm (where he's engaged to the owner's spoiled daughter) isn't what he wants from life. |
