| Description: | Syracuse (Colin Farrell) is an Irish fisherman, a recovering alcoholic and the father of a young daughter, Annie, in need of a new kidney. When out fishing one evening, he pulls up his net and discovers a beautiful young woman (Alicja Bachleda) nearly drowned. She says her name is Ondine, and she doesn't want to be seen by anybody, so he puts her up in a remote cottage. Annie soon discovers the woman, and they become friends, but the girl is convinced that Ondine is a sea creature. When Syracuse has a streak of good luck, he begins to be convinced himself. But then two strangers show up and things come to a head. It turns out that Ondine was running drugs for some violent people, and they want their merchandise back. In a struggle on the boat, the men fall overboard and drown. Ondine stays on and marries Syracuse, and Annie gets a new kidney. |
