Description:Based on the book Rogue Male. Captain Alan Thorndike is hunting in Germany before WWII and spots Hitler. He's just about to shoot him when he's discovered and captured. The German Major Quive-Smith (George Sanders) demands that he signs a paper admitting that he was acting for the British government. Thorndike refuses. The Germans shove him off a cliff, but he survives. He makes it back to England but is pursued by German agents. He takes refuge with a Cockney girl Jerry (Joan Bennett). The Germans capture her and kill her. Thorndike kills Quive-Smith (by shooting him with a bow made from a bed slat and his belt and an arrow made from Jerry's hat pin). He returns to Germany to hunt down Hitler for real.

Review - Man Hunt

Absolutley ridiculously implausible from start to finish. Why was Thorndike hiding back in England from the German agents when he could have gone to the government (his brother was a lord) and told everything? Why did the Germans chase him around England for his signature? On the verge of invading Poland, would an admission by a British big game hunter really have proved anything worthwhile? Just silly. Joan Bennett's character was stuck somewhere between prostitute and schoolgirl with an awful accent.
