Description:Amy (Mira Sorvino) is an architect who visits a spa and falls in love with Virgil (Val Kilmer) a blind massage therapist. She convinces him to have an operation to give him sight. The operation is successful, but Virgil has difficulty relating in a sighted world — he doesn't know how to read and can't relate what he sees to what he knows by feel. The couple struggle with their relationship. Virgil loses his sight again after a couple months, but he's gained enough by his experience to get out of his rut and begin working with blind children. Amy seeks him out and they get together again. The story is based on a real couple who are now married.

Review - At First Sight

Kilmer was very convincing as a blind man, and Sorvino (who I don't think I've seen in anything before) was charming. The speed with which they fell in love was a bit ridiculous, and the movie had its crude parts, but it does make you think about blindness in a way I haven't thought about it before.
