Description:Bill Forrester (Gregory Peck) is a WWII bomber pilot in Burma. He lost his bride in an air raid and doesn't care if he lives or dies — until he meets Anna, an English-speaking Burmese girl. They fall in love, and Anna gives Bill a reason to live. Just in time too, because his plane crashes in the jungle, his navigator is injured and Bill has to carry him 30 miles to friendly territory.

Review - Purple Plain, The

I like Gregory Peck, but this was rather dull. And I didn't think the girl who played Anna was somebody he'd be likely to fall for. There were a lot of close-ups of Peck sweating, if you like that sort of thing.
