Description:A retelling of the Twenty-One scandal in the 1950s when Charles Van Doren (Ralph Fiennes) won tons of dollars on the TV quiz show. Congressional investigator Dick Goodwin (Rob Morrow) gets a hint of scandal and investigates. Previous winner Herbie Stempel (John Turturro) tells Goodwin that he lost to Van Doren on purpose because the networks wanted a non-Jew as the champion and promised him a lot of money to give a wrong answer. Goodwin finds evidence to prove that Van Doren was being given the answers in advance. Congress investigates, and Van Doren loses his job as a network commentator and college professor, but neither the network, its employees or the sponsors get in trouble because, after all, TV is just entertainment.

Review - Quiz Show

Pretty good. It, along with a half hour of Internet reading after I finished watching, taught me everything I want to know about the scandal. In the end, I guess I agree with the verdict. Sleezy, yes, but TV never claims to be anything else. It just makes me even less likely (if that's even possible) to take anything I see on TV seriously.
