An animated, musical version of "Frankie and Johnny." The action takes place in the courtroom after Johnny's death. The defense attorney presents Frankie as a demure, gentle woman who refused Johnny's advances. In anger, he shot at her, and missed. The ricochets followed him all over town to the tavern where he was rehearsing with Nelly Bly, where they caught up with him and killed him. The attorney says his faith in Frankie is so strong that he will marry her after the trial. The jury decides not guilty. The attorney takes off with Nelly Bly, at which point Frankie picks up the gun presented as evidence and shoots him.

Review - Rooty Toot Toot

I'm not a cartoon historian and am therefore unaware of how radical this might have seemed, compared to traditional cartoons, when it first came out. I suspect it would be difficult to convince me that the simplistic drawing and coloring was innovative as much as it was an excuse to crank out cartoons swiftly and cheaply. The story is mildly amusing.
