Description:Produced by Warner Bros. as a parody of the popular Rover Boys series of kids fiction books. The three Dover Boys (Tom, Dick and Larry) are playing hide-and-seek with their fiancee Dainty Dora Standpipe when she's kidnapped by villain Dan Backslide. (All the names are parodies of names in the books.) Dan takes Dora off to a secluded cabin to have his way with her, but she beats him to a pulp. By the time the Dover Boys arrive, she's gone off with some random guy who strolled through the cartoon on several occasions.

Review - Dover Boys at Pimento University, The

I get that its a parody, but having never read The Rover Boys, I didn't find it particularly clever. This cartoon was made about the time when artists were experimenting with simpler techniques that could be created faster, and this cartoon was one of the pioneering efforts. Again, however, I didn't think that made it more interesting.
