A starving artist determines to go to Hollywood to make movies. He instructs his cat, Felix, to get the money. Felix makes a deal with a bankrupt shoe dealer for $500. He brings customers to the store by placing gum all over town, which leads them to buy new shoes. The artist then informs Felix that he isn't going to Hollywood. Felix disguises himself as the artist's traveling bag. In California, the cat meets several famous people, but is refused a job. He sees a man in trouble and jumps in to help. It turns out he's interfered with the shooting of a movie, but his "acting" gets him a contract.

Review - Felix in Hollywood

I guess it was clever in 1923, but the humor doesn't hold up well. It was a silent film, and the animation was very crude. Felix can talk and remove his tail to use as a prop and do all sorts of "cartoon" things.
