Description:Silent movie about a tramp (Charles Chaplin) who finds an abandoned child (Jackie Coogan) and raises the boy as his son. When he turns five, the authorities find out about him and try to take him away. The tramp flees with the kid, but is found and the child is taken to the police. His mother (Edna Purviance), who abandoned him years ago, is now a wealthy performer. She recognizes the kid in the police station and takes him, and the tramp, into her mansion.

Review - Kid, The

Played more for tears than for laughs. It was sappy and rather dull. And there was one odd dream sequence in which everyone turns into angels and flies about the old neighborhood.
