The early years, when Clark Kent (Tom Welling) was in high school and trying to come to grips with his powers while keeping his identity a secret, were the best. Later on when he was working as a reporter, got muddy and increasingly ridiculous as the creators promised "no tights, no flights."

Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor was way overused. Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, was excellent, but kept around too long. Erica Durance as Lois Lane never, to me, really seemed to fit the role.
