Description:The small Newfoundland town of Tickle Head is out of jobs and people are leaving. An oil company is considering putting a plant in the town, but only if there's a doctor. Dr. Lewis (Taylor Kitsch) is sentenced to a month in the town on a drug possession charge, and the people of Tickle Head, led by the mayor Murray (Brendan Gleeson) leads the population in a series of lies to convince him to stay. In the end, Kathleen (Liane Balaban), the one attractive single woman in town who never has warmed up to the doctor or the scheme, tells him the truth. Dr. Lewis decides to stay anyway, the plant moves in and saves the town and Kathleen warms to him after all.

Review - Grand Seduction, The

It's hard to believe that anybody could be as gullible as the good doctor in this movie — he even buys it when he reels in a half-frozen fish as his "first catch." But it's an amusing tale with amusing characters.
