Review - Laughter in Paradise
Mildly cute and clever, but played a bit like a parody as are many English movies made in the 1950s.

| Description: | An eccentric man, famous for practical jokes, leaves a fortune to four relatives on the condition that they accomplish certain tasks. A writer of trashy novels must get himself arrested and spend 28 days in jail. He does and as a result his stuffy girlfriend dumps him but he finds out that his secretary adores him. A timid bank clerk is supposed to rob his own bank. He tries, but ends up stopping a real robbery instead. He gains courage and gets his girl. A bitter old woman who is mean to her maid must work as a maid for a month. She learns kindness and ends up dating the man she was working for while at the same time arranging a marriage for the man's daughter. And a playboy must marry the first single woman he talks to. He meets an attractive woman who he thinks is wealthy and marries her but then finds out she's the niece of his butler who was scamming him. After all that, the four discover that their rich relative really had no money. Audrey Hepburn appears in a minor role as a cigarette girl in a bar. |
