When Block is casing the guy's home, the guy goes to Block's house, kills his nanny and ties up his older daughter. Block tracks him down and, in a fight at a train yard, the guy is killed by a train. Block and Beryl get together.

Review - Tightrope

The movie spent a lot of time setting the mood and creating suspense, but there really wasn't much plot development. Eastwood's character had some serious issues. It would be nice to know there was some redemption at some point.
