Description:Lieutenant Speer (Clint Eastwood) and Mike Murphy (Burt Reynolds) used to be partners on the police force but now they can't stand each other. Murphy works as a private detective, and when his partner gets killed in a deal with gangsters, the two men reluctantly join up to solve the case. It's just a McGuffin — two gangs wanting some information that was stolen — the movie is really about the rivalry of Speer and Murphy. They solve the case and end the movie in a fistfight with each other. Madeline Kahn is along a Murphy's girl and Jane Alexander as Speer's girl and Murphy's secretary.

Review - City Heat

It's supposed to be a vehicle for two big stars to show off and parody how tough they are, but it falls flat. There are some funny bits. In one scene, Eastwood bursts in on Reynolds who says, "I didn't hear you knock." Eastwood says, "Thank goodness. I thought I was going deaf."
