Description:A group of small-time gold-panners have formed a community in a valley. LaHood, a rich miner, wants their land and terrorizes them to get it. Hull Barret, the strongest of the panners, goes into town for supplies and is attacked by LaHood's men. Suddenly, a mysterious preacher (Clint Eastwood) shows up and rescues him. Barret takes him back to the valley where he meets Barret's fiancee Sarah and Sarah's 15-year-old daughter Megan (Sydney Penny). Megan and her Mom both fall in love with the preacher. Megan tries to seduce him, but he puts her off. She goes riding and falls in with LaHood's son and his men. She's about to be raped when the preacher shows up and rescues her. Meanwhile LaHood hires a crooked sheriff and his six deputies to get rid of the preacher and the panners. The preacher rides into town and kills them all. He's about to be shot in the back by LaHood when Barret arrives and kills him. The preacher rides off and Barret realizes that he's a ghost, come back to get revenge.

Review - Pale Rider

Similar to a couple other Eastwood movies, like High Planes Drifter and Hang 'Em High. This one was better than the first and not quite as good as the second. The ghost angle was interesting.
