Description:Peter Stirling (Donald O'Connor) is a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII. He gets separated from his troops and ends up in a bombardment where he meets a talking mule named Francis. The mule saves him and then gives him information that enables him to defeat Japanese troops on several occasions. But he keeps ending up in the psych ward because nobody believes his story about Francis. Finally Peter convinces Francis to talk to a general and soon everybody knows about the mule. Francis is sent back to the states, but the plane crashes. Peter tracks him down and moves Francis into his home after the war.

Review - Francis the Talking Mule

Well, that was silly. There was just the one joke — that a mule could talk and nobody would believe it until it talked to them. It wasn't funny the first time and didn't get any funnier as the movie went along.
