Description:Martha Price (Maureen O'Hara) and her daughter Hilary (Juliet Mills) bring a Hefeford bull to Texas to breed it with longhorns. Cowpuncher Burnett (James Stewart) at first makes a deal to steal the bull and sell it, but soon falls for Martha. The ranch where they let the bull go is owned by Bowen (Brian Keith) who also falls for Martha while Hilary falls for his son. The bull dies during a hard winter, but Burnett is convinced that it bred. He rides the range until he finds a mixed-breed calf and then returns to win Martha's hand and start a ranch of their own.

Review - Rare Breed, The

I quit caring what happened pretty early on. The only sympathetic character was Hilary, and she played a rather small part. Stewart's character was a snake at first and then became weirdly fanatic about finding the bull. O'Hara's character was dull and Keith's was way over-the-top. And who cares how Hereford cattle came to Texas anyway?
