Description:The MacDonalds own a ranch and control the best water near the town of El Dorado, Texas. Jason (Ed Asner) wants it, and hires gunman McLeod (Christopher George) and his gang to help him take it. Opposing Jason is Sheriff J.P. Harrah (Robert Mitchum) who has fallen on hard times and become a drunk. But Harrah's good friend, gunfighter Cole Thornton (John Wayne) shows up to help him, along with an inexperienced but clever sidekick named Mississippi (James Caan). Thornton gets Harrah back on his feet, and with Mississippi and Harrah's deputy (Arthur Hunnicutt), they manage to get all the bad guys killed while only suffering a few random injuries themselves.

Review - El Dorado

Fun, with a lot of good actors playing a lot of good characters. There was even some humor, including the fact that Mitchum kept switching which side he used his crutch on. A couple of women were along for the ride, Michele Carey played a feisty MacDonald daughter who ends up interested in Mississippi and Charlene Holt plays a local woman in love with Thornton.
