Reviews for The Wings of Eagles

Review - Wings of Eagles, The

The movie was OK. I'd never heard of Frank Wead, and I have to confess I wasn't paying close enough attention to learn all the stuff he's famous for in the Navy. He's mostly known for his Hollywood screenwriting and pulp fiction novels. Wayne toned down his style a bit for most of the movie, including the long stretch after he broke his neck and was lying on his stomach. He also appeared without his toupee for the only time in a movie because Wead was balding. Wead actually wrote a couple of the movies Wayne starred in.
