Description:Quirt Evans (John Wayne) is a lawman turned gunfighter. He's injured and taken in by the Worth, a Quaker family who don't believe in violence. Penelope (Gail Russell) nurses Quirt back to health and falls in love with him. He is drawn to her, but when an opportunity to rustle some cattle comes along, he takes off. After selling the cattle, doing some gambling and cavorting with loose women and getting into a bar fight, Quirt realizes this life doesn't appeal to him anymore. He returns and promises Penelope he'll marry her. While they're out picking blackberries, Quirt's enemies show up and try to kill them. Their wagon goes off a cliff and Penelope is hurt. Quirt thinks she is going to die and rides into town to kill those responsible. At the last minute, the Worths show up with a weak, but alive Penelope in the back of their wagon. Quirt gives her his gun just as the bad guys come out on the street and get shot by the sheriff (Harry Carey) who all along has been convinced that he'll hang Quirt someday. Quirt informs him that, from that point forward, he's a farmer.

Review - Angel and the Badman

This one scores high because of the chemistry between John Wayne and Gail Russell. Her beauty and non-accusing love for and faith in Quirt would be enough to change the heart of any man.
