Description:A New York man, Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell), sends his wife and son off to Maine for the summer. He's determined to behave, but on the very first night he meets the model (Marilyn Monroe) who is house sitting in the apartment upstairs. They strike up a friendship — that's all it is for her, but she's incredibly naive. Sherman is soon conflicted with fantasies of passion and guilt. In the end, after the girl tells him he's exactly what women like in a man, he rushes off to Maine to be with his family.

Review - Seven Year Itch, The

I actually had a hard time getting through this. Ewell's character is so annoying that he's totally unlikable and I didn't care what happened to him. Monroe has probably never been lovelier, but her character is so incredibly naive in regards to the effect she's having on Sherman that I was left wondering if she even existed or if she was just part of his fantasy.
