Description:Roy Rogers stops by the Kendrick ranch to see if he can mate his mare to the Kendrick's prize stallion. He's refused, and when he persists, is tossed out bodily. But the horses have their own plans and run away together long enough for Rogers' mare to get pregnant. Meanwhile, neighboring rancher Scoville wants the Kendrick stallion for himself. He sees it in a fight with a wild stallion and shoots, accidentally killing Kendrick's horse. Rogers comes along and is caught by Kendrick (Gabby Hayes) standing over his dead horse. Roger's is arrested but flees on his mare, which gives birth to Trigger. When Trigger is grown, Rogers tries to give him to Kendrick who refuses and has Rogers arrested. Trigger is sold to pay off his debts, and Scoville buys him. He hires Rogers to train him and race him. He bets Kendrick the horse against his ranch. Rogers is about to win over Kendrick's horse ridden by his daughter Susan (Dale Evans), but Rogers lets her win. Then Scoville says something that reveals he killed the Stallion and all is well in the world. Rogers sticks around the Kendrick ranch but we aren't told why.

Review - My Pal Trigger

A pretty complicated plot for a 79 minute movie, with more plot holes than plot. But I guess if I were a 10 year old boy in the 1940s, I would find it mildly exciting. It is set in a strange world where there are cars and casinos and electricity but everyone wears old-fashion cowboy gear and rides horses.
