Review - Last of the Mohicans, The
Great movie, great acting, great story. It isn't identical to the book, but in this case I think it's actually better.

| Description: | Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis) is a white man raised by Mohican Indian Chingachgook and brother to the Indian Uncas. In New York during the French and Indian War, they happen upon a small British force being attacked by Indians led by Magua. The British are led by Duncan Heyward who is escorting General Munro's two daughters Cora (Madeleine Stowe) and Alice to the General in Fort William Mary. Hawkeye and the two Mohicans arrive in time to save Heyward and the girls. They agree to take them to the fort, but when the arrive, the find the fort under seige and about to surrender. After surrender, Indians attack and massacre the prisoners. Hawkeye and the Mohicans again manage to save the two girls. Duncan and a few other troops also escape, but they are soon captured by Magua who takes them to the Indian camp. Hawkeye offers himself in exchange for the girls, but Heyward sacrifices himself instead. Alice is given to the Indians. Hawkeye and the Mohicans chase after. Uncas, who loves Alice, is killed by Magua. Alice jumps off a cliff rather than submit to Magua. Then Chingachgook arrives and kills Magua. |
