Description:Capt. John Yossarian (Alan Arkin) is a bombardier in the Army Air Force in Italy during WWII. When his commanding officer keeps extending the number of missions he has to fly to be sent home, Yossarian decides he doesn't want to fly anymore. But the only way to get out of the Army is to be crazy, and anyone who is smart enough to know he wants to get out of the Army must be sane. It's Catch-22. Meanwhile, everyone else on the base is engaging in ridiculous, senseless behavior, making Yossarian the only sane man in the place. The movie ends when he finds out that a friend crashed his plane on purpose and made it to Sweden in a life raft. Yossarian grabs a life raft and starts paddling away from Italy.

Review - Catch-22

A decidedly weird movie made from a decidedly weird book. Arkin was good as the only sane man in an insane world. The story points out the absurdity of war and the hypocrisy of bureaucracy. It got really strange at times, unnecessarily crude at others and very slow-moving often, but I'm glad I watched it once.
