Description:George Kellerman (Jack Lemmon) travels from small town Ohio to NYC with his wife Gwen (Sandy Dennis) for a big job interview. Their plane is delayed and then rerouted to Boston. They catch the last train to NYC to find their hotel reservation had been given up. They get mugged twice, end up in a cop car during a high-speed chase, kidnapped, and rained on. The end up sleeping on Central Park, stealing Cracker Jack from a dog for breakfast and catch a ride with a Cuban diplomat and get caught in a protest. George loses his hearing when a gas main explodes and breaks a tooth. He makes it to the interview and is offered the job but turns it down for a quiet life in Ohio. On the flight back home, their plane gets hijacked to Cuba.

Review - Out-of-Towners, The

To begin with, I've never found it amusing to watch other people be miserable. On top of that, Lemmon and Dennis, but particularly Lemmon, whine and yell for the entire movie. They make their characters so annoying that I didn't care what happened to them, I just wanted the movie to be over.
