The movie was 2 hours and 24 minutes long, and the first hour and 47 minutes (and the last 10 or so) were just shots of Japanese and American military personnel standing and sitting around while talking and looking worried. It may have been historically accurate, but it was boring. The actually battle footage, while impressive for the most part, was chaotic and, since we hadn't really gotten to know or care about any of the characters, I wasn't really emotionally invested.
