Excellent movie. I thought the casting was fine, although supposedly a lot of critics don't think so.

| Description: | British soldiers are stranded on a Greek island. To rescue them, the British navy has to make it past the guns on Navarone—two huge cannons that control the strait. A team of operatives is sent in to destroy the guns. When the leader is injured during the landing, command descends to Mallory (Gregory Peck). Along with him are bomb expert Miller (David Niven), guerilla-fighting expert Stavros (Anthony Quinn), and two others. They meet two Greek women who guide them across the island. The Germans are constantly one step behind and even capture them at one point. When Miller discovers that his explosives have been tampered with, they figure out one of the women is working for the Germans and kill her. Mallory and Miller manage to get to the guns and plant the explosives. The others are all killed except Stavros, who decides to stay on the island with the other woman. |
