Description:The story of how the Muppets got together. Kermit was singing in a swamp when an agent rowed by and told him about Hollywood auditions for a frog. Kermit set out, gathering other Muppets along the way. He was pursued by Doc Hopper (Charles Durning), who wanted him to do commercials for his chain of fried frog leg restaurants. Along the way, the gang sings songs and tells jokes. After Hopper is chased off by a gigantic Animal, the gang make it to Hollywood and get signed to a contract by the studio head (Orson Welles).

Reviews for The Muppet Movie

Review - Muppet Movie, The

Starts out fairly good with some good running gags, but about a third of the way into the story, it just lost steam and became silly. A few of the songs would have been good if they'd been sung by people instead of Muppet voices. Several stars made cameos — Edgar Bergen, Milton Berle, Mel Brooks, James Coburn, Dom DeLuise, Elliott Gould, Bob Hope, Madeline Kahn, Carol Kane (who had one of the funny bits — when ever someone would say something false about frogs, Kermit would say "MYTH," and Carol would pop out from behind the scenery and say, "Yes?:), Cloris Leachman, and Steve Martin.
