Description:The Red October, a new submarine with a propulsion system undetectable by radar has been launched by the Russians. It's captained by Marko Ramius (Sean Connery). A U.S. sub captained by Bart Mancuso (Scott Glenn) happens to be nearby why the system on the Russian sub is turned on. A sonar operator finds a way to follow it on its path toward the U.S. and the U.S. government thinks the Russians might be attacking. But C.I.A. analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) has another idea. He has studied Ramius and think me might be defecting. He boards Mancuso's sub and convinces the captain to take a chance. Ramius fools his crew into thinking the Red October has been sabotaged and there's a radiation leak. The crew is evacuated. Ramius and the other defecting officers take the Red October down where it is boarded by Mancuso and Ryan. Ramius turns the sub over to the Americans. Things are complicated by a Russian cook who is trying to blow up the Red October and by a second Russian sub trying to torpedo it. But in the end, Ramius and the sub come to the U.S.

Review - Hunt for Red October, The

A good suspense movie, even if everything goes off a little to easily. It was hard for me to believe the Russian sailors didn't catch on to what Ramius was doing, or that one C.I.A. analyst would be believed. But I enjoyed it.
