Description:Boxer Joe Pendleton (Robert Montgomery) is on his way to the title match with Murdock when his plane crashes. An over-ambitious angel brings him to heaven, but Joe protests that he shouldn't be dead. He meets Mr. Jordan (Claude Rains), the arranger, and convinces him to take him back to earth. But when they get there, it turns out Pendleton's body has been cremated. Joe is transformed into the body of millionaire Bruce Farnsworth who has just been murdered by his wife and secretary. As Farnsworth, Joe falls in love with Bette Logan (Evelyn Keyes). He decides to become a boxer as Farnsworth, but before that can happen, Farnsworth is murdered a second time. Mr. Jordan transfers Joe again, this time into the boxer Murdock, just in time to win the big fight after Murdock is shot by gamblers. Mr. Jordan shows up and erases all the memories of Joe, so that it's just like Murdock was never shot. He meets Bette, and somehow she recognizes Joe in Murdock and they go off together.

Review - Here Comes Mr. Jordan

If it sounds convoluted, silly, and full of plot holes, I've done a good job of explaining it. And it was boring too. In the end, Joe is transformed into Murdock, but only has Murdock's memories, so even though he ends up with the girl Joe loves, it's Murdock who ends up with her. Joe, for all practical purposes, ceases to exist. It's a dumb ending to a dumb movie. Claude Rains stands around with a silly look on his face and has no actual personality or role. James Gleason plays Max Corkle, Joe's manager, and the only person who realizes what's going on.
