Description:Jonathan Wooley (Fredric March) is the descendant of a man who condemned a witch to be burned 270 years previously. He's due to be married to Estelle (Susan Hayward) and is running for state governor. The witch, Jennifer (Veronica Lake), has been trapped in a tree since the burning, but she escapes and determines to take her revenge on Jonathan. She decides to make him fall in love with her on the eve of his wedding, but accidentally drinks the potion herself. She casts a spell that makes everyone vote for Wooley, and then marries him. She confesses that she's a witch, which makes her father, also a witch, send her back to the tree. But before he can, Jennifer traps him in a bottle and lives happily with Jonathan.

Review - I Married a Witch

Silly and annoying. Veronica Lake is the only likable character. The chemistry between her and March was terrible—he was 45 and she was 23—so I didn't care whether they ended up together or not.
