Description:Sgt. Joe Gunn (Humphrey Bogart) and two men travel across the Sahara to avoid the German army. Along the way, Gunn picks up several British soldiers, a Frenchman, a Sudanese soldier, and a German prisoner. They head to the only well in several hundred miles and hole up there against a force of several hundred Germans. All of them die except Joe, on British soldier, and another American who goes to find help. Joe manages to hold out long enough to force the Germans to surrender to get water. He meets the relieving force with one man and a couple hundred Germans prisoners.

Review - Sahara

A fine story, with heroic wartime speeches. The only problem was trying to figure out why the several hundred Germans kept attacking all together from just one direction instead of spreading out and overwhelming the small force. But I guess that wouldn't have made much of a movie.
