Description:Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) lives the perfect life in the seacoast town of Sea Haven with his wife Meryl (Laura Linney) and his best friend Marlon (Noah Emmerich). What he doesn't know, but everyone else does, is that it's all a show—a reality TV show broadcast worldwide 24 hours a day. From birth, Truman's life has been orchestrated by Christof (Ed Harris). But as time goes on, Truman begins to suspect that something is wrong. The one girl he loved disappeared (because she wasn't the actress he was supposed to be in love with). Life seems to revolve around him. The more he investigates, the weirder things seem. He decides to escape. He runs one night, boarding a boat and sailing out to sea, until he runs into the wall around the huge studio. Christof makes a final appeal to him to stay in his "world," but Truman has had enough and walks out a door and out of the show.

Review - Truman Show, The

For the most part, Jim Carrey reigns in his usual overacting and makes a good movie. As a satire on the out-of-control media and its willingness to manipulate news for entertainment and ratings, it's brilliant.
