Review - Interstellar
Visually impressive. The story kept my interest, although it could have moved about twice as fast. I've never been a big fan of movies that take place in space or under water. Too slow. The love between Cooper and his daughter grabbed me as parent-child relationships in movies always do. Which made it weird -- after having this relationship be the thing that drove the movie -- that they finally meet at Murph's death bed and basically said, "Well, I knew you'd make it back. Bye."
Near the end, Cooper figured out that humanity in the future had figured out how to somehow send the messages that saved humanity, or somehow constructed the whatever that enabled Cooper and Murph to save humanity. I don't know. Bottom line, however, is that it was a very humanist message with humans being the heroes that save the world.
It's science-fiction, I know, but the emphasis here really needs to be on "fiction."
