Description:Justin Quayle (Ralph Fiennes) is a minor British diplomat in Kenya. He meets and marries outspoken activist Tessa (Rachel Weisz) who begins working with a doctor to bring aid to poverty-stricken communities. When Tessa is found murdered, the authorities write it off as a robbery. Justin thinks at first that Tessa was having an affair, but as he investigates, he uncovers a larger story. She discovered that the drug companies were testing a TB drug in Kenya with the full knowledge that people were dying. She wrote a report and tried to get it to officials in the British government, but they were in on the deal and that's why she was killed. Justin manages to expose the corrupt officials, but he too is also killed.

Review - Constant Gardener, The

I didn't like the movie. The camera work was frenetic and the cuts came with headache-inducing speed. Tessa's character was too self-righteous to be likable. Justin was heading in that direction by the end of the movie. But in light of recent real-life events, the idea that drug companies are out to make their money no matter who suffers doesn't seem terribly out of line.
