Description:A remake of an old John Wayne western (which I've also watched). John Mason (Christian Slater) returns home just in time to find his father murdered by a band of outlaws. He's nursed back to health by Alice (Jill Hennessy) and determines to go after the bad guys — who, it turns out, are led by Alice's brother Rudd. There's also Mason's friend Ben who is also in love with Alice. It all comes to a head in a shoot-out on Main Street. That part is very like the earlier movie. But in this one, there's a whole other gang, led by Cochrane (Donald Sutherland) who are after Mason for a supposed crime in another state. When Rudd waylays Cochrane and leaves him for dead, Mason saves his life. So at the final shoot-out, Cochrane comes along and arrests Rudd instead of Mason. Then Mason and Alice wander off down the street together.

Review - Dawn Rider

The characters, and the actors who played them, were OK, but the plot as done this time around, was awful. Too many people, too much confusion, not a lot of sense to any of it.
