Description:Jack Marcus (Clive Owens), a literature teacher at a prep high school, gets into a debate with Dina Delsanto (Juliette Binoche), an art teacher, over whether words or pictures are more important. There's a lot of drama with Jack being an alcoholic who steals his son's poem to keep his job and Dina's frustration with her rheumatoid arthritis. The two sleep together, then fight, then agree that art and words are both important and get back together.

This movie attempted to be intellectual, but in the end failed to prove that art or words were valuable in any real sense. In the end, it was just a romance movie, and even failed at that level because Jack's character was just a bit too unlikeable.
