| Description: | Matthew (Michael Caine) is an American widower living in Paris who has lost his reason for living. He meets Pauline (Clemence Poesy), a young dance instructor, and the two become friends. Matthew falls in love with Pauline, but since he's much older, he feels like a fool and attempts to commit suicide. His estranged son Miles (Justin Kirk) comes to visit him in the hospital and tells him that he has gotten divorced. He thinks Pauline is trying to get his dad's money, so he sticks around and soon falls in love with her himself. Matthew decides his purpose was to bring Pauline and Miles together and kills himself. |
