Description:A Polynesian girl, Moana, feels called by the sea to "go beyond the reef." From her grandmother, she hears a tale of Maui, the demigod who stole the gem from the heart of the mother island. Without the heart, the island is dying, and Moana's people are endangered. She finds an old boat and sets out. She discovers Maui, but he's self-focused and unwilling to help. Unless Moana helps him regain his magic fishhook. She does, and the two begin to get along. But when he confronts the lava monster who guards Moana's island, he takes off. Moana braves it alone, but, of course, Maui shows up at the right moment. Moana restores the gem and all is well.

Review - Moana

Disney is better when it just relaxes and has fun—101 Dalmations; Lady and the Tramp. The paganism in this one is hard to like and it got preachy about the right of girls to seek their own destinies. Hasn't that been the point of the last seven Disney movies? The characters were fine—not my favorite. The animation, as always, was incredible.
