Reviews for The Bribe
Review - Bribe, The
Good noir, even if the plot doesn't stand up to a lot of thought. Gardner was good as the sexy, conflicted, but ultimately good pawn.

| Description: | Cop Rigby (Robert Taylor) is sent to the Central American port of Carlotta to track down a gang who are selling Army supplies on the black market. His chief suspects are Hintten and his wife Elizabeth (Ava Gardner). Before he can find out if she's guilty, Rigby falls in love with Elizabeth. Hintten has a heart attack, and Elizabeth agrees to dope Rigby to protect her husband, even though she knows he's a crook and no longer loves him. But gang leader Carwood (Vincent Price) kills Hintten and intends to kill Elizabeth. Carwood's lackey, not wanting to be involved with murder, switches sides and helps lure Carwood to Rigby who shoots him. Rigby and Elizabeth end up together. |
