Description:British agent Harry Palmer (Michael Caine) is sent to Berlin to arrange the defection of a Russian general, Col. Stok. In West Berline, he is picked up by Samantha Steel (Eva Renzi) and begins a relationship with her. Palmer makes arrangements with Kreutzman, a free agent who specializes in getting people to the west in exchange for cash. Kreutzman arranges a fake funeral for Stok, but when Harry opens the casket, he finds Kreutzman himself dead. He realizes the whole thing was a plot by Stok to get rid of Kreutzman. But things are more complicated than that. Samantha is really an Israeli agent trying to find Johnny Vulkan, a Nazi who is trying to get to a horde of Jewish gold in Switzerland. Vulkan has been working as a British agent. Harry manages to maneuver Vulkan to a place where Samantha and her partner kill him.

Review - Funeral in Berlin

I probably would have given it a 7 except for one thing. I couldn't follow how the plot to kill Kreutzman overlapped with the plot to stop Vulkan. Caine plays Palmer with considerable understatement, acting like a bit of a nerd and dope but always ahead of everyone else.
