Description:Opera singer Louise Fuller (Grace Moore) is stuck in Mexico without a visa. She needs to get to the U.S. to perform in a music festival for her uncle. The only way for her to get there is to marry Jimmy Hudson, who appears to be a bum. She offers Jimmy $7,000 to marry her, then divorce her when she gets to the states. But Jimmy is really a successful artist who doesn't like to be tied down. He agrees to the marriage, but only because he believes Louise has real talent hidden behind her press image. In the states, Jimmy courts Louise and wins her love. When he finds out she still plans on doing the festival, he offers her the divorce, but then he discovers it's for a good cause, he forgives her and they stay married.

Review - When You're in Love

Obviously an attempt to feature Grace Moore, whose career was in decline. She got top billing over Cary Grant and spent about half the movie singing opera songs. Subtract the singing, and the movie was mildly amusing until the festival scene where it got silly, with Jimmy willing to divorce her when she insists on singing at the festival and then Louise willing to not sing at the festival to stay married to Jimmy and then suddenly it was OK to sing at the festival AND stay married. Cary had some moments of classic Cary Grant, but that wasn't enough to save the movie. It was one of those plots which would exist if the two people in love actually told the truth, listened to each other, and believed each other.
