Description:Connie Fuller (Ann Sheridan) buys an old house in the country against the wishes of her husband Bill (Jack Benny). The place is in terrible shape and costs them everything they have to fix it up. Uncle Stanley (Charles Coburn) shows up for a visit. They fall over themselves being nice to him because they hope to inherit his fortune, but when their house is about to be foreclosed and sold to the jerk neighbor, they find out Uncle Stanley is as broke as they are. On the night before they lose the house, the Fullers discover an old boot with a priceless letter from George Washington inside, and all is well.

Review - George Washington Slept Here

I like the characters, but how many movies are there about city folks trying to live in on old house in the country? To point out the charms of country living, Connie kept pointing out the song of the "Yellow-breasted Barn Swallow."
