Description:Dr. Richard Talbot (Kent Smith) is married to a fussy woman and lives a boring life. A nightclub singer, Nora Prentiss (Ann Sheridan), ends up in his office with a minor injury. Talbot falls for her and they begin an affair. Nora finally gets tired of sneaking around and determines to leave. When a patient dies of a heart attack in his office, Talbot decides to fake his own death, substituting the patient's body for his own. He calls himself Thompson and he and Nora head to New York, where she takes up singing again while Talbot lives a lonely life in a hotel. He thinks (wrongly) Nora is having an affair with her boss and goes to the nightclub to confront him. The men fight and Talbot takes off and gets in an accident. He is disfigured. Meanwhile, the police track down Talbot as Thompson and arrest him for the murder of ... Talbot (himself). He is tried and found guilty but refuses to tell the truth about who he is and makes Nora promise too.

Review - Nora Prentiss

Ann Sheridan is great as the singer who falls for a man and stays loyal to him long after she has any reason to. The rest of the cast was good too, but the movie was a bit too depressing to be rated any higher.
