| Description: | Famous critic and radio personality Sheridan Whiteside (Monty Woolley) visits a small town in Ohio with his secretary Maggie (Bette Davis). He slips on the stairs of the Stanley home and is laid up. Whiteside is a selfish tyrant and makes all sorts of demands, ordering people around and causing chaos. When he discovers that Maggie has fallen for local newspaperman Bert (Richard Travis), he tries to break up the relationship by calling in actress Lorraine (Ann Sheridan). Maggie finds out what he's doing and quits. Whiteside has a change of heart and ships Lorraine off in a sarc0phagus (which was weird). Mr. Stanley gets sick of Whiteside and throws him out of the home, but Whiteside slips on the steps again and has to move back in. Maggie ends up with Bert after all. Billie Burke and Jimmy Durante also have small roles |
