Description:Gerald (Roland Young) is having an affair with Claire (Thelma Todd) while her husband Steve (Cary Grant) is at the Olympics participating in the javelin throw. Gerald plans a trip to Venice with Claire, but when Steve returns home unexpectedly, he has to hire Germaine (Lili Damita), an actress, to pretend to be his wife. Germaine is a respectable woman who only takes the job because she's broke. She plays up to Gerald when others are around but insists that he keep his distance otherwise. Gerald's friend Bunny (Charles Ruggles) is in Venice and makes a play for Germaine. This makes Gerald jealous, and he asks Germaine to marry him for real. Meanwhile, Claire has fallen back in love with Steve.

Review - This Is the Night

Notable only because it is Cary Grant's first film role. He plays a small part as the cheated-on husband. Lili Damita is the star and the only reason the movie is even watchable. The parts played by Young and Todd are simply annoying.
